There are a million different types of people in this world. Siting in this emergency room waiting room I can see them all. Worried young mothers, scared fathers, bitter seniors and the bitter ones who have given up on hope. There aren't enough neat little boxes to fit all these people into. And who would want to? It's not that I don't want to stereotype them, infact that's all the contact I'd like with the best of them. Its that I don't want to take the time or risk the contact that sorting them would require. Sure, some of the stories might be interesting and if there wasn't the risk of disease I might be inclined to listen. It's that this raw unfiltered humanity reminds me of how goddamn hard it is to find the few that have boiled and strained and purified their humanity into something worth experiencing. How small of a percentage of people have managed to trim enough fat to salvage something worth experiencing. And it scares me that they're becoming fewer and harder to find in my life.
